Sexual energy and its evolution play a central role in the psycho-spiritual development of every individual. Sexual energy, or the energy of Life is the fundamental substance of the human psyche that enables us to exist, to perceive ourselves and the world in a certain way. It is the engine of our inner life, and so we grow in accordance to its quality. It acts within our psychological world as a tendency to grow, to create, to improve, and so drives us forward toward certain life goals and fertilizes our life with new and new possibilities. So, sexual energy is not only responsible for our reproduction or our capabilities in an act of romance, it is the overall life essence that, from time to time, can express itself through love-making.

Sexual energy and life itself are so interconnected that we can view them as one and the same thing. All questions around our sexuality are thus very, very important because we are also indirectly pointing at our overall mental, energetical, and even spiritual condition.

Let´s contemplate the stages of such an evolution to better understand its nature and to better perceive our psycho-sexuality from a perspective of time. Just like every other growth, even inner growth is a process, or a gradual movement that requires some level of patience, proactivity, and acceptance.

Stage n. 1 – Conception, birth, and rapid growth

We are all – biologically speaking – the results of a sexual union of our biological mothers and dads. A great amount of life energy is necessary to create such a complex life, a human being. It is the sexual energy of our parents and later mainly of our moms that begins, drives, and preserves the exciting prenatal journey.

We are physically dependent on our mothers even long after our birth. Their sexual energy, or energy of life feeds us in the form of their milk, their touch, and care in a general sense. The bondage between a physical mother and her child is thus very powerful.

We are born and we start to massively expand thanks to a sufficient amount of sexual energy. Our future overall development is critically dependent on the amount and quality of our inner ‘sexual energy of Life’.

Our parents are the first objects of our sexual projections. Our relationship with them thus predetermines our psychological health and growth. Or in other words, psycho-sexual growth can be established only in the harmonious and healthy atmosphere created by harmonious and healthy parents. Through that natural energetical field that we call HOME, we can gradually expand our Life energy.

Stage n. 2. – Crisis, decay, latency

However, in our society, it is much more common that we are born into not completely harmonious conditions. Through first traumatic experiences and inadequate education, we start to develop inner conflict based on the difference between our innate perception and external expectations.

The quality of psycho-sexual energy thus begins to decay, or in other words, we start to create blockages that disable the natural flow of Life energy. That can lead to feelings of anxiety, lack of energy and motivation, self-denials, guilt, shame, and other unpleasant and heavy energies. Because we are blocking the natural flow of sexual energy, we can develop what psychologists call psychological disorders. Tree of Life has stopped growing and will gradually decay, if not healed.

The overall psychological condition is latent, or in other words, we have fallen asleep. For, there is no life without Life energy, we are alive or dead based on how much Life energy we allow to enter our psyche. The desire for Life energy thus can be compensated by perversions, different kinds of sexual addictions, or suppression. A lack of ‘’sexual energy of Life’ can be also projected to religious, nationalistic, or commercial fanatism. Consciousness trapped in defensive mechanisms of ego will always blindly search for external sources of pleasure, while the only source of Life can be found within.

Stage n. 3. – Awakening, purification, maturity

To re-establish growth that was so natural in the first stage of sexual evolution, we have to experience the awakening of that latent energy. And because sexual energy (Love) is the most powerful energy in the Universe, it will surely begin a process of inner purification and healing that will rejuvenate our inner world. Tree of Life will thus grow towards its higher potential, human child will become a mature human.

In this stage, we are becoming conscious and later in control of our physical desires. Sex isn’t perceived as a tool for perishable satisfaction anymore, or something to be ashamed of. We start to perceive the deeper potential and nature of sexual intercourse. We explore that only through real love we can experience the purest connections and ecstatic experiences. What used to be only sex in the previous, more infantile stages, becomes love-making for psycho-sexually adult individuals.

Stage n. 4 – Divine sexuality
In the early phase of this stage, we start to perceive the divine nature of sexuality, of ourselves, and of all that exists. We start to understand the deeper meaning of the union of two contrary polarities. We begin to understand sexual exercise as a marriage that can lift us to the realm of ecstatic Love – to Heaven. Love-making is viewed as a sacred way to connect with divinity, or as a way of self-healing. Through masturbation or sexual exercise with the partner, we allow the power of pure ecstasy to heal our body, or to experience transcendence. God reveals itself as the strongest bliss of ecstasy. In the full presence of the spiritual Light, we become one with God.

When the energy of Life is unblocked, it fully flows through the entire psyche and so the psyche can grow toward its fullness. In the most advanced stage, the individual’s psyche becomes so flooded by the energy of Life that he or she might not feel any desire for sexual intercourse anymore. Such an individual is whole (feminine and masculine principles are united) and inner bliss is a natural stable feeling within.
